  • Bad wind

Terrrible wind down here in Essex today and its pushed my Broad beans, Lettuce and Rocket down. Since I'm new to this can anyone tell me, do plants recover from being pushede down a bit? They havent snapped at the stems but it just makes the lettuces and especially the rocket go a bit floppy. I've put some of them in the GH now but cant fit anymore in nor cover anything else.

    Thanks.

Broad beans are tough as old boots Rob, can you get some twine round them to fasten them together and more upright? I'm sure the rocket will survive, but lettuces blown down? Were they tall cos varieties?

Yeah..not blown right down so they are bent just at an angle.

My little gems have done the same but not so badly.

Most things will recover if you pick em up quick enough! You may just need a prop for them though!

My broadies started to topple too, so I got some garden twine and looped it around them so they support each other a bit, like Flo said. They seem fine now. Don't know about lettuce or rocket though, I've not dared plant any outside so far, only in the tunnel! If the roots are still in the ground and the stems haven't snapped, I'm sure they'll be fine. Again, maybe push some sticks in around the outside edges and run some twine around to make a bit support for them?
