Cut the seed pod stem off, allow the onion to grow on, harvest when of a usable size and use straight away. They will not store.

Mine don't seem to be swelling... they have lots of leaf, and I started them in the greenhouse as advised on here, which seemed to give them a fantastic start, but they just seem to be slow to swell. How much longer should I leave them before lifting to store. Do they take long to go brown? I was hoping to show some but they just dont seem big enough. poor things! Thanks xpassionate about plants

Mine are not swelling either. Like on other threds, its a bad year for lots of veg.
If only we can have week or two without a lot of rain and some brightness they should start to bulk up.
