Is it just me or are there hardly any cabbage whites about this year? I really don't recall seeing any yet...or is it still a bit early? I'm sure my brassicas should be being shredded by now...

All these clouds have silver linings.
We had a lot emerge early in that warm March, so less food about, and they will then have been knocked back by the wet weather making it difficult for them to be on the wing. There's been a lot less white fly about, too, this year.Where there's muck, there's brassicas

We had them in the warm weather (before Easter) but none since... But nature compensates by sending us 1000s of snails.

I have had a catepillar (sp?) squashing session on my cabbages, which I have now uncovered as I am harvesting them.
Not seen many cabbage whites (writing very quietly!) but we do have a few butterflies and moths around, but not many.

So what does it mean for future years? Would this year seriously knock them back so we get fewer next year? Saw a couple of red admirals at the lottie today, but they're not nearly as harmful. Are y'oroight booy?
