newbie alert

hi all Jayne here

I am i newbie at growing things, this is my first year at it lol
we have i few things growing at min including toms, sweetcorn, beetroot, spuds and i few other things
the problem is im not so sure when to plant things and when its time to harvest
im looking for the best guide by guide book which will help me and guide me in the right direction and one which tells me all year round what i can plant and what i cant
any help would be great

Very simple 'guide' is probably 'the veg and herb expert,' by Dr hesseyon ...although there are probably better books I can recommend if I could establish your particular style of gardening.

I am with Paul on this one Vegetable & Herb Expert by Dr D G Hessayon so much more than a planting guide and not expensive. Perhaps thats why they have sold over 50 million copies.

Hi Simon & Jayne and welcome from me. We like silly little/big questions but you must be prepared for some silly answers, especially from me. Certainly, get yourself a book or two but you'll find the answers more quickly here. As for getting annoyed with you, definitely not So make yourself at home

its our first year at growing so we will and have made mistakes like trying to grow onions from seed and failing big time, but we have got few things growing like toms and trying sweetcorn but they seem to be taking ages lol i will try and get a few pics up soon just to show how a much of a newbie i am lol
