I've been chopping onions for over 40 years and they've never really bothered me, but I've just chopped an onion I grew myself and my eyes were streaming. What joy!

home grown are as WE grow them,even the last few of them still pack a punch several month on,perhaps they spray with a keep me agent,and it kills the bit,????i will never get used to the efect though,my eyes sting so much i have to stop,doing the odd 1 is ok ,sigpicAnother nutter ,wife,mother, nan and nanan,love my growing places,seed collection and sharing,also one of these

Read somewhere that if you submerge peeled onions in water for a wee while, they do not sting the eyes so much when the onions are later sliced. Can't say i have noticed a significant difference, bmut it may be worth a try?Spelling errors are my area of expertise. Apologies if my jumbled up mind/words cause offence.
