I've been chopping onions for over 40 years and they've never really bothered me, but I've just chopped an onion I grew myself and my eyes were streaming. What joy!
home grown are as WE grow them, even the last few of them still pack a punch several month on,perhaps they spray with a keep me agent, and it kills the bit,????i will never get used to the efect though,my eyes sting so much i have to stop, doing the odd 1 is ok ,
sigpicAnother nutter ,wife, mother, nan and nanan, love my growing places, seed collection and sharing, also one of these
Read somewhere that if you submerge peeled onions in water for a wee while, they do not sting the eyes so much when the onions are later sliced. Can't say i have noticed a significant difference, bmut it may be worth a try?
Spelling errors are my area of expertise. Apologies if my jumbled up mind/words cause offence.
Thank you UU, that's very thoughtful of you, but I really don't mind, it's just so thrilling to have good, big, strong, tasty onions for the first time. I've grown them before, but not as successfully as this year
