Broad bean question

I've had a shufti through several broad bean threads, but can't find any mention of this - my beans have grown tall and got bean pods on them, but they have also sprouted additional new stems from near the base which are now flowering. Do they normally do this? (This is only the 2nd time I've grown BBs and they didn't do that last year).

Should I leave them on and let them set, or will it stop the pods already set from filling out?

Yes perfectly normal.

If you cut back (Chelsea chop) your finished plants instead of ripping them out, you can sometimes get a 2nd crop

Yea, thats why spacings are a bit more crucial with Broadbeans. Your only planting one plant at a time but most will sprout a second shoot at an angle and will produce the same amount Took me by surprise last year.
