Going away for 4 days what do I need to do?

I am going away during the imcoming heatwave in the south, so need some advice on how to leave my garden.

I have a family member who will water intermittantly in the evenings for me.

Main concerns are.

Lettuces and Rocket. They dont like the extreeme heat do they? some are in pots so can be shaded whilst some are fixed in the ground. The ground ones have coped well with the milder hot periods earlier in the summer but how will the 26-30 degree heat treat them?

Same with my marrow plant. Do I need to shade the marrows?

I take it my Chillis Peppers and Toms need no moving as they will love the heat?

Is there anything else I should know or do?

My list of veg that are fixed in the sun is

Lettuces
Strawbs
Broad Beans
French Beans
Mange Tout
Brussels
Caulis
Broccoli
spring onions
Aubergines
Tomatoes
Chillis and Peppers
Beetroot

Other than evening daily watering what else do I need to plan for?

I'm not an expert on this, but my indoor toms and chillis have survived a long weekend on their own. Given a good watering before leaving.

Observably; all depends on size of plant and what they are planted in.
large plant in small pot = more watering
small plant in green house border, should, = less watering.

either way; water before you leave and when on return and everything should be OK.
At least that what I have found.

My pumpkin and squash plants usually get so big they shade themselves! Although on the 40+C days they do need a water every day or two. And they always perked up immediately. In fact, they are hard to kill once they get big. Could you perhaps put a bit of bendy wire in hoops over the sections you're worried about and put a little shadecloth over that (not sure what you call it over there, but it lets some sun through but saves them from the worst of the heat. That way they would have a little protection.

My greenhouse toms often have to get by for a week without water - they don't seem to suffer too much - although we haven't had much sun yet! Plants in the ground will survive - I never water mine unless they're newly planted out. 4 days isn't long.
