i think is better leave them... because is my first years and i really want some tomato i just keep 3 or 4 trusses per plant... with this weather i rather few tomato nice and red than a lot of green one...
Got any pictures Redser? I'm finding it a bit hard to visualise. Tomatoes naturally produce trusses all the way up the stems and it doesn't seem to stop the lower fruits forming and ripening.
Not at the moment, sorry. Hard to explain alright. Imagine a truss growing out of the stem normally. Then right at the end tip of the truss, another truss has grown. Wondering if it's an abormal thing that will just sap the plant of energy.
You can cut it off cleanly if you wish. I've had this happen a few times, some I've left and some I've cut off. Doesn't seem to affect the other fruit.
Thanks for replies. Think I'll nip them out. It's nearly August (Whaaa!!!???) and they can't help I guess.
It's happening on the marmande, but that's just a mad man. Have had whole branches growing out of trusses on that thing. Gardeners delight and moneymaker doing it too.
Some of my trusses are growing branches (with leaves) at their ends, and one of my toms is growing in a very weird manner, which is hard to describe without posting a picture. Not that I care, just thought I'd let you guys know.
