  • Harvesting seeds from fruits/veg?

Whats the best way to do this?

Do peas and beans have to be a certain size before they can be harvested for seed? I want to store some of my broad beans for this purpose. Do you just take the peas out and seal them in an envelope for next year?

Also how do you extract and store the seeds for these plants.

    Tomatoes
    Peppers and Chillis
    Marrow
    French Beans

    Thanks.

Peas and beans need to be left on the plant until the pods are dry and crispy. Some good information on this site How To Save Your Own Seed at Home

And look for a few different threads here on the Vine about storing seeds....

Its a fantastic feeling to grow from you own seed, but only save from the strongest and tastiest plants!

also when you save seed think as well what you want from the plant.. for example don't save the seeds of the last sweetcorn plant otherwise your seeds will be a later variety over the years, so is better save the seed of the first plant that make corn, for lettuce instead don't save the seed of salad that bolt early because you want to breed a bolt resistant variety....i hope this make sense
