  • Rust spots on redcurrants

    Hi
I recently planted some red and white currant bushes on my allotment plot. No fruit this year and up until recently they were puttting on good growth and nice and green. I have noticed they have what look like rust spots on the leaves, do they need feeding?

I got no fruit from mine either, and they also developed big red blisters like peach leaf curl - apparenty quite normal, and probably won't affect the harvest (if there'd been one!). Don't know about rust spots though - mine are currantly (ha ha, joke!) buried so deep in tall grasses and weeds I can't even see them any more! I'm taking the easy way out for now and waiting until the autumn when everything should die back and I can sort it all out for next year.

Sounds like blister aphids to me, my redcurrant was covered in them.
Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive

I haven't seen any insects on them though. I even took a sample leaf off one of the bushes and tore it apart, would appear to be surface marking only?
