Like Binley, I doubt I'll change much, just according to the weather. I will however be stocking up with Nemasys (never used it before, but it must be worth a try) over the winter to try and defeat the bloomin' snugs.

I will overwinter more broad beans. May as well make use of any space. Any excess can be frozen or given to neighbours.

I wont over water any seedlings inside, as this year I suffered from lots of little black flies.

I'll try not to keep going away when I'm supposed to be hardening things off, a lot of things got to the allotment on the late side.

Will take more care labelling things. (though plot neighbours children tend to move my labels around as they think the recycled wooden forks are toys)

Maybe use some organic slug pellets or other methods.

Will really keep on top of the bindweed and other weeds.

Not buy straw with seeds in it.

Pick gooseberries before the birds get them!

Make a cold frame for hardening off instead of using a table with a bit of plastic draped over it.

I've learnt so much this year and it's only mid-July. Next year I will mostly be:

          digging manure into the beds

planting more pumpkin, courgette and marrow. I have 2 pumpkins, 3 courgette plants and 4 marrow and I don't think it's enough for reliable fertilisation. They were all bought on a whim at a plant sale.

More polyculture and far less bare space

Bring on seeds in spring - relied on sowing from seed and picking up young plants this year

          Plant more onions

Not forget where I planted the garlic and weed it all out *doh!*

          Ditto all but three leeks

          Use newspaper mulch

          Plant vastly more peas

Dig up my friend's rhubarb plant that she hates and make my husband very, very happy with a supply of home-grown rhubarb

I forgot one: grow lots more edible plants to attract the little critters who can get my marrows, courgettes + pumpkins fertilised

Is there anything that isn't made better by half an hour pottering in the veg patch?

1: cover the whole damn plot in manure.
2: buy a decent staging area for seedlings etc
3: Plan, Plan and Plan some more because I thought I had it figured out this year and it was a shambles.

i will be more,,,,,,,,,,,,,,professional, i am sidetracked so easily i will go outside to gt the washing in and end up weeding a couple of rows and planting another row, then get the rotavator out to go over an empty patch, then get the washing in with my now dirty hands, then have a wash then maybe some tv? i am so unorganized, i did make a good plan of my garden and i know where everything is, all nice straight lines and all rows easily identifiable, the most water needy are closest to the water well etc , but my main mistake is not knowing how long things have been in for, especially for the successional growing veg's, so m,,, maybe keep a diary?

Next year, I will not plant so many courgette and squash plants so close to each other....it's like day of the triffids on my plot at the moment.

Oh and I need to sort out my brassica netting...cabbage whites are having a lovely time in my beds despite the netting. I will try to get some old net curtains from charity shops for next year.

I will also do lots more French beans, particularly the small yellow dwarf variety I've got this year. They are fab.

Make some more self watering pots. The toms have been so much happier this year helping themselves to water as they need it, rather than having the usual drought/flood they get when I let them dry out, then over water. Plus I only have to top them up every other day max, even in the heat we've had this year, rather than having to water every day.

                            Less courgettes
                            Immediately and persistently net brassicas
                            More squashes
                            More weeding!!
                            More feeding
                            More organisation
                            Less dithering, more doing!

Sow/plant things early immaterial of what is written as the optimum time.
                                Load more manure.
Less onions - never had much success so will try something else.
