Mine from last year Camone F2, I just put it down to type although some of them were really shiny. This year this variety isn't ripe yet so no idea if they will be the same again.

Hope yours get a bit of gloss

I've been asleep - no warning of incoming posts - wonder why?

Thanks for the steer on russetting - could well apply in our situation.

Seems to get worse as the fruit ripens - nothing seems amiss at this stage of Bolzano.

Another annoyance - a great number of our Cherry type fruit are so small as to be not worth picking. Same fed regime as ever.

Hello Cotswold. I though of you a few days ago after picking my first Black Krim tomato - he wasn't shiny either. You can see photos here http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...ml#post1031608. I'v no idea whether it should be a shiny tom or not as I've never grown them before!

You may need to adjust your Settings.
Go to "Settings" at the top of the page, then "My Settings/my Account/ General Settings"
Then "messaging and notification" and choose your "Default thread Subscription mode"
            Hope this helps

                Thanks VC.

Cherries, binley? No - Bolzano as mentioned - not clear, but showing no russeting when green.

Earlier photo was Nectar, a very reliable large 'cherry'.

These are our problem -Sungold & Bottondoro - each with a right sized fruit.

Hi Cotswold, not much help but quite a few of my Sungold have been small this year usually on the lower truss. I but it down to a lack of sun and warmth in their early stages, the fruit on the later trusses has been much better.

oh and why have you taken the whole truss off ........I pick each as they become ripe, the smaller ones may still be growing

                        Been off-line since.......

Whole truss? Because the tiny ones are just not worth the effort. All skin & no fruit. And being fully coloured now, no hope of further growth.

Sorry to HAVE tomatoes. It does help to have a greenhouse. We bought ours to store my Mother's furniture when she moved in here. 30'x12' - £200.

                        Great legacy!!

Welcome back Cotswold! I'm not going down the "What a lucky man you are" road - more the "I'm sorry that you haven't had your usual success with tomatoes this year" track. Its been such a strange year - lots of inexplicable things happening in the crop department. I'm still hoping for an Indian Summer! Otherwise I'll need a good recipe for green tomato chutney.
I've just worked out the area of my 3 greenhouses and they would all fit into yours, in fact nearly twice!!
As you say, a great legacy
