Hi all, has anyone been thinking about where to get there seed garlic from this year. I have been looking around and everywhere seems to have put there prices up quite a lot from last year. I can only imagine its because of the bad weather and the effect in the crop. So, where is everyone getting there from?

i was just looking on the web at garlic, but last weekend i noticed wilko's had their autumn planting bulbs in and on the bottom shelf were a pack of 3 garlic for 2 quid, so im just gonna get them.
Oh and they also had some senshyu onions in for 2 quid a pack too (for 50 bulbs), so i will probably get a pack of those too lol

T@M have free postage this weekend so a decent saving on garlic. You can't use a voucher with it though.

Last year I splashed out on some Early Purple from the Garlic Place [Isle of Wight] and some of their Elephant Garlic and it was those that ended up with White Rot. Mine were 95% clean.Last edited by zazen999; 25-08-2012, 12:52 PM.

I always thought the bigger cloves were the ones to plant, I use the ones on the outside of the bulb to plant and use the smaller ones for cooking.
On page 5 of this link http://www.michiganorganic.msu.edu/u...20Michigan.pdf it says to use the biggest cloves. I've never made a comparison though, so I can't speak from experience.I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
Now a little Shrinking Violet.
