It's usually only extreme weather that stops me getting to the garden/allotment. The success,or not, of the upcoming year, in my experience, is down to the time and care taken during winter preparation.

Not only do I not like the cold weather, I don't like getting dirty working in the mud!!! I have paving slab paths in between my beds which must take up double the space needed but i just can't bring myself to walking on mud and getting it all over my clothes, even the ones i have designated for gardening only. I put it down to my work environment and the need to be 100% hygienically clean all the time That's my excuse anyway

Unless it's throwing it down, or frozen solid under snow, I'll often be down my allotment- and even when it is, I've been known to go down there. There's over 200 plot holders on the site, and I often have the whole place to myself. I did a few late night snail hunting trips in the rain this summer, which probably counts as dedication!

See now I've filled this in wrong, yes I'm a fair weather gardener, I don't garden in the rain, my ground is compacted enough as it is.

However, I get a lot more done in the winter as I'm not battling weeds, so as long as its dry I garden more in the winter than the summer.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.
