Thanks Pots I'm starting to think of having a Potty garden - despite having oodles of ground! This year, everything that has been in the ground has been massacred or drowned while the plants that I put into pots as a last resort are thriving. There is a moral there somewhere - all I need to do is find lots of containers, fill them with soil and cover the ground with them! Shouldn't take long
I think both methods have there pros and cons. This way suits me because I am basically idle but you do have to plan ahead otherewise you end up with empty containers.

I get home from work - "What shall I have for tea? A baked spud would be nice."
So I wander out into the garden, stick my hand in the ground for a fist-sized spud, then straight to the oven. Lovely.
