Anyone know why my little round Butternut squashes behind the flowers are falling off and going yellow? What date do they usually fruit at? The flowers seem much tighter than Marrow flowers and harder to hand polinate!
They don't have a specific date for fruiting (is that what you meant?)
If it's too cold then they won't be pollinated (bees don't fly in the cold) or the fruit/flower will rot rather than grow.
It's too late in the year now for fruiting, if you have any fruits that are big enough but not ripe then pull off the foliage to allow the sun to reach the fruit.

I've had loads of flowers but none of them have turned into fruit - they just disappear. Same problem with my courgettes. Should I have hand pollinated them? They all looked like male flowers though. Was this due to the weather or have I done something wrong?
Another hand up here. I have three butternut plants that are only just producing flowers, but my courgettes have all but finished (not disappointed though, I've had loads of lovely fruits from the Zephyr).
