  • Tomato blight

    Morning all,
The vast majority of our tomato plants have devloped blight.
Some of the fruit is looking ok for the time being, although still green. Is it worth taking the fruit off that looks salvageable even though some are still quite small, and popping it somewhere to ripen off the plant.
I understand some may still develop blight but if I can save at least a few then I'll feel like I've achieved something!

in my experience, they all get it eventually, one year i picked all the toms of thinking i would do some jam/chutney,in just a few days most of them were no good, green and red,got it down our lottie and in the greenhouse,i took of infected toms outside, the ones left only grew to have it ,so no point in wait and see, just up them,
sigpicAnother nutter ,wife, mother, nan and nanan, love my growing places, seed collection and sharing, also one of these

        wot she said ^
they're all likely to develop it, so might as well use them up for greem tomato chutney or jam.

Picked all my outside toms today and disposed of the infected plants. Will ripen as many as I can in the greenhouse and hope I haven't introduced any spores in there as well. I've still got green tomato chutney from two years ago

Thanks for the advice everyone. I fetched off the fruit that looks salvageable and binned the plants. Most of them seem to be blight free so far, got them sitting in my kitchen window ripening!
Tuber - same here, I've still got a jar and a half of green tomato chutney from last year when we had a glut lol! Good job really as we're not going to have that luxury this year
