Wilko garlic also rubbish here this time VVG. They produced tiny cloves too small to mess about with for using, but I've got them in modules to see if they'll grow some big uns. Zaz's idea, so it'll be all her fault if it doesn't work

I grew the mixed onions too and the red went to seed. The white and the brown came out about the same size that I planted them

Reading in my garlic book, it suggests that a boost with feed in Spring and three months of watering prior to harvesting, apart from last week before you dig up, ensures larger bulbs.

I'll give that a go VVG, thanks. What sort of fertiliser, anything special advised?

            Sulphate of potash Flo.
Comments include...rich fertile soil...spread good compost before planting...free draining but moisture retentive...ph above 6.7...doesn't like sitting in wet so add sandy gravel to clay...add lime to make acidic more alkaline...fine top layer of at least 4cm.

Thanks m'dear. I think I can comply with most of the advice, so I'll get some potash
