I'm going to plant out some spring cabbage and kale plants at the weekend. Should I use brassica collars on them or is it too late in the year for the cabbage root flies to do any harm now?

There are two times in the year when cabbage root fly is at its most dangerous the second one starts in Aug maybe a little later in cooler areas.
This year with the weather we have had it will be more difficult to judge. I have just started planting out my spring cabbage, under netting to protect from flutterbyes and with collars just in case.
