  • Hard swedes

I've been growing swedes for 3 years. The first year they were great and very tasty but the last two years they have been inedible even though they look fine. I've chopped and boiled them for over an hour and they just refuse to soften - anyone any ideas please ? I'm sure I've used the same brand of seeds for the three years so not sure why they worked once and then not since.

could it be the weather again,as in,this and last year we had the heat and wet at the wrong time of year, and peeps usualy follow the PKT instructions, the upshot being the seeds are in efect, planted at the wrong time,so the grow slower,my cabbages were no good either, just took to long to grow up,

No - they have been in different beds each year.

I've always found that my swedes are hard until after they've had a decent frost, could this be the issue?
