Thank you Lottie and Bins for admitting to this affliction. Most of the others here have mocked me but there is strength in numbers. Together we are strong and can face up to this knowing that we are not alone. Avocado stones are mounding up in my kitchen alongside the strangely pink fermenting dishes of tomato seeds........
Anyone else prepared to come out and admit it?

psssss anyone know how to grow seeds from the biggest pine cones I've ever seen.........they are about the size of an egg and the pine cone itself was like a melon. Do you some serious damage if it landed on your head.....

I think there is a serious issue here, what are you doing with the guts. Mutilating a perfect good tomato, it spent months becoming the best tomato it could, and with a quick swish of the knife you've made it seedless....

Now there's a thought, you can get seedless grapes, anyone considered trying to create a seedless tomato?

Are you saying that we are being cruel to tomatoes by removing their seeds
Will this lead to formation of the RSPCT?

My lot have learned to ask before they eat any tomato, after me screaming at them, 'Don't eat that!'. The first couple of times they thought there was something wrong with the perfectly innocent tomato sitting there minding it's own business. Now they realise I'm just saving the seeds from a fate worse than death, ending up at the sewage plant.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

What do you do with all that saved seed Barley?

I think we should start a campaign for the plight of the de-seeded tomato.

I can see the head line, 'Tomato Rights activist arrested'.

Perhaps for the less high brow it might read.

The activists are already out there! I'm not sure I should post the link but here's a quote:
" The conditions at the ketchup making sweatshops are abhorrent. No minimum age for harvest has been set by the FDA; as a result, the sensitive young tomato is plucked along with the more mature, hardened plants. All lie together in heap of mangled tomato paste, in the poorly air-conditioned warehouses with no plant food or water, being sadistically tortured by the American capitalist ketchup makers."

Well, it all sounds like a very Scarey problem to me ! Although to be honest, I am more worried about the plight of the celeried workers in the unregulated private chop-shops that household kitchens can be... (Yes, that is a serious, bona fide food allergy to celery greasemonkey, this is why bouillon must state if it contains celery. http://whatallergy.com/2011-04/celeryallergy)
As for the warehouse tomatoes, I am afraid their greed has managed to ketchup with them. After all, they were the pilot scheme for the latest Government proposals...they ceded their rights regarding fair working conditions, no point in getting the pip now.
There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.

                              You are not alone!
Froma very early age, I wouldnt eat anything with seeds, or 'pips' in.
                              Tomato, cucumber, berries etc etc
Gradually I have got better, I'm now 28, I can eat tomato and cucumber.
I cant chew raspberries or blackberries or blueberries, i can squash them in my mouth, and swallow them, but I cannot get seeds on, or in my teeth, perhaps there is something wrong with me!? lol

                                Hi cptn and welcome back!!
I don't have a physical problem with swallowing most seeds - only the ones I feel I should be saving to grow on I seem to spend my life surrounded by little pots and dishes of drying seeds.
