Had it here (South London) for at least the last 3 years. I do find that most plants will recover, to some extent, and grow through it from October onwards when there are fewer on the wing as it cools. Any plants that suffer a bad attack are cut to within an inch or two of the ground. Again, many recover and grow back strongly from the stump, but there are always a few losses. Garlic and onions have never suffered as the worst attacks are in August/Sptember and other alliums are unlikely to be in the ground then.

Not resorted to net yet; I get a llittle downhearted looking at rows of netting everywhere - probably will next year, though. Sigh...

Leek moths on the lottie here, so we grow leeks at home where, so far they, remain unaffected.

Garden Organic survey shows Allium leaf miner spreading fast - News story from Garden organic

This is an allium leaf miner survey - but it's hard to tell whether it's leek moth or allium leaf miner that people have. Same end results though.

something's started munching my leeks ....

only 2 pots, maybe 3, affected so far ... will be down the veggie patch this afternoon to drop some net curtains over the leeks that have been planted out ....

Fifth year!....little b*ggers get through enviromesh but it does reduce the damage alot.... I do have some of the fine mesh but failed to try it in time

Most recover over winter although some do seem susceptible to other infections.

The 'old boys' on the plots just cut the tops off and leave them to regrow, it seems to work
