  • My only pumpkin, is this going to ripen in time!?

Hi all, I lost 5 pumpkins off the only plant I grew, the kids were not happy with me!
I dont know what variety this is, but is it going to darken, before the end of the month?

... you could also protect from frost when forecast overnight..

They do continue to ripen off the bush too once they start. Have picked ones that are quite green in the past (due to frost predicted) and left them on the window ledge. They have then gone nice and yellow. Thought my squashes were pretty bad this year but found a couple of extra Turks Turbans hidden under some foilage at the weekend so not as bad as I thought.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

            You actually have one!!!
            Thats one more than me.....!

You could always try putting it on a (large) sunny windowsill.....

I picked mine last week when frost was threatening and put them in the greenhouse. The vines die off at the first sign of frost but the pumpkins will continue to ripen in the sunshine. Mine were mostly green when I picked them but I have faith that they'll be largely orange in time for Halloween.

Take it off the vine, and stick it on a warm sunny window sill. I did that with Bruno the Ghost rider. Was beautifully orange at Hallowe'en before Ma curried it.
