      Well no, because you need a good wide gene pool to grow reliable seed. You may get results from one plant (I did) but it's not likely to be as good healthy a stock, as it would be from a wider range of "parents" ~ at least 16 is recommended in the link below

        Thanks for all your help and advice guys. I think that considering they're F1s and the number I'd need to get good seed, and that Tam found some for only a few quid on Ebay, I'm just gonna buy some seed and eat the rest of the carrots I bought! I'd been trying to water root the tops as well and there were no signs of life there, which isn't a good sign!

          Yeh, I saw them myself but didn't think you'd want to pay a fiver for 30 carrots........
