This year has been particularly bad for peppers turning squidgy and reduced to a liquid mush while still on the plant. Just what, exactly, causes this? I've been growing the long types, both sweet peppers and Espelette type hot ones, but the problem has occurred equally in both the polytunnel and outside. Not all peppers are affected even on the same plant, but some just liquefy in this way. I wondered if it might be irregular watering but it has happened with plenty of rain on the outside ones and regular watering in the tunnel. Maybe it is just the varieties?
Who else suffers from the same problem and does anyone know what causes it and if there is a cure?
