They're in poly bags very slightly damp but I can't get to the lottie to plant them until Saturday morning, shall I keep them cool and dark!?

Yeah, they will be fine. I usually stick holes in the bags and pop them in a tray/bucket of water until ready to plant out.

They'll be fine- just leave them somewhere cool but frost free as you suggest

Brilliant, thanks for that. I worry too much, hopefully they'll go in sat morning before I go to work, think I need to prepare the ground a bit for the asparagus dig in some compost and manure and raise the ground a bit.
