Described by DT Brown as a spring onion that thinks it's a leek - Ancient Japanese variety etc. Has anybody tried this variety?

Spring Onions - Shimonita?

I don't think it's leek-like, it's just about the size and shape of a young leek (ie, it doesn't form a bulb at the bottom like, say, Bedfordshire Champion does).
Buy Shimonita Spring Onion Seeds
You can also sow White Lisbon in late summer (you don't need to buy Shimonita especially). This is the only way I can get "spring" onions in the spring: sow in Sept/early Oct, harvest from March onwards.Last edited by Two_Sheds; 05-12-2012, 05:54 PM.All gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.
