Red Duke of York

Red Duke of York fits in very well with an ornamental kitchen garden as it has red foliage.
I always grow DOY which I agre with AP is a superb spud. As I have mentioned, RDOY has small ornamental foiage but didn't do particularily well in my area and I only got six to eight very small tubers per plant.
Thinking this was a fluke, I grew RDOY the following year in a different area, with exactly the same results.
So in essence, I love the look of the potatoes foliage but won't be giving it another try.

I grew them......I found the skins to be very thick and they mushed better than they mashed........I am hoping it was just the soggy weather and will give them another go this year.

I used to grow them til I found Amorosa. Which are almost the same, but don't get slugholes in them.

start them cooking with a kettleful of boiling water as otherwise they do tend to mush

I love DoY taste wise but those Amarosa were lovely and grew hooge. DoY is an old potato taste - earthy, which some folks like and I must say I do. My old dad always liked them and I'm told my grandad grew them.

I've had them and I liked them a lot. And like Snadger said, the plants do look lovely!
