I figured it might be furry things flattening themselves to get under the doors although I don't think there are gaps. Munchy caterpillars sound a much nicer bet.

The rat man once told us meeces can get through a hole the size of a 5p piece (whereas rats need one the size of a 10p) so they may well be the problem.
The problem with rounded personalities is they don't tesselate.
Could it not be slugs or snails? They seem to have got everything else this year. Slugs manage to get under our front door so they can get in anywhere.
