Who Or What Is Nibbling My Shallots?

As the title says really. My leaves have been nibbled. They are in the polytunnel.

Of course, its Mr VVG! The thought of him, crawling around in the polytunnel, nibbling VVG's shallots, is a bit too much this early in the morning

any pics VVG? Really need to know if leaves totally or partially grazed off or if nibbled in part etc. Mice and rabbits are definite possibilities depending on access and there are still caterpillars of different sorts on the go

Sounds like mice VVG, do you have any plastic bottles you can put over them until they are established?............not the mice, the shallots........

I figured it might be furry things flattening themselves to get under the doors although I don't think there are gaps. Munchy caterpillars sound a much nicer bet.

i noticed 1 or 2 of my outdoor onions the same,bet its mice,as not a rabit area,

If a mouse can get its head in (I think mice heads are flat) it can get the rest of its body in.

Urgh AP, it is making the hair stand on the back of my neck. I'm going out now and have trousers tucked firmly in boots.

The rat man once told us meeces can get through a hole the size of a 5p piece (whereas rats need one the size of a 10p) so they may well be the problem.

Could it not be slugs or snails? They seem to have got everything else this year. Slugs manage to get under our front door so they can get in anywhere.
