I'm literally going to go through my seed sash and put a pinch of each into each month that it can be sown.

So if a cabbage says Sow Jan-March, I'll probably get a pinch, and put it into one for Jan, one for Feb and one for March...a different cabbage would go into different envelopes but the same months.

If I remember I might put the names on the back of the envelopes, and will keep a log and take photos of the pages so that I can blog it.

This is already fun!!! But then again I don't watch TV.

What's the reasoning for putting different variety cabbage in a different envelope & not the 3 you have started?

Because I will have 12 envelopes for the 3 months, so want to spread it about a bit!

Ok, thought you may have put a pinch of each variety in each envelope. I misunderstood.

I might do - I was thinking of the logistics of writing it in my book 12 times!

My misunderstanding really.........I envisaged getting Jan-Mar seed packets, putting a pinch of each into one envelope, shaking it up a bit then dividing it into 12 envelopes...........

It should be even more random - mix all your seeds together and take a pinch out each week. Then all you need is a master list of all the seeds it could possibly be. Got me thinking now...........

You're gonna have to be a mastermind @ seedling identification..........

No - you weren't misundestanding...I'm just designing it as I go. That was my first thought this morning...you never know I might well go back to do that.

Seed packing later today so still working this out as I go.

So when you said random approach in the title, you literally meant it............

Be brilliant for the students though - I might get some of them to do it - and we ID seedlings as they grow.

I've done this with herbs, trees and perennials in the past and it is exciting watching the different seedlings coming through and matching them to what you think should be there. In most cases it doesn't really matter whether you're right or wrong as they'll all turn into something you want
