Great thank you - what do you do with your aubergines once germinated and potted on?

    Thanks

Chillis any time from now, lots of people started their super hots a week or two ago as they are slow to germinate, regular peppers are fine for another month or so, theres not much light anyway

Upto know I've resisted the temptation to start ahead of nature, I hate losing things to frost so don't tend to get going until we have the weather to do so.

This year though I've been reading with interest the light box thread, I'm tempted, really tempted to give it a go.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

          Last years chillis

I think I started my Chilli seeds too early last year. Sowed in a heated green house at the end of feb, slow to germinate and very slow growing in the early stages. The tobasco seedlings when they eventually emerged never developed any true leaves and seemed to stop growing altogether at that stage. last year was not a good year for Chillis!

Archie, I find chillies germinate better with bottom heat. I sow mine in a heated propagator (seed tray size) on the kitchen windowsill.

Yesterday I dusted off the heated propogator and seed trays, and planted a few things - some because they take ages to develop, and some in a speculative fashion. If they fail, I'll just plant them as normal in March. One small tray of lettuce, ten pots of giant leeks, six spiky broccolis, and a small tray of early Hatif peas all went into the propogator. Oh, and four maincrop Champion of England peas in plastic muffin boxes. Going to have a do at growing them indoors once they get to a reasonable size. I have freestanding 8' trelliswork that takes two 6" pots, should be sufficient for the pea plants.

Planted up a tray of leeks and sprouts, and put them on a south facing windowsill. If the leeks are successful, they will be very early indeed. Not sure what I'm going to do with those...
