starting off early

Hi all,
My heated propagator is at the ready !!
A little bit of advice and some feedback needed, please. When would be the earliest I could start sowing tomatoes and chillies? I was also thinking of trying some bush tomatoes outside. What companion plants would be good for this? Perhaps to provide a little bit of shelter and protection from the winds (our plot is very open)

I sow habaneros in mid Jan, because they take ages to germinate and flower.

I then sow cayennes mid Feb

And tomatoes end of March....
