I would be overwhelmingly grateful for a load of horse manure, but there are no stables round here giving it away or even selling it (our local riding school is contracted to send it all to RHS Wisley). If anyone is / knows of somewhere close to Windsor Berks with a heap, please let me know! We could be poo pals....

However, I can get quantities of cow manure. Without wishing to hijack the thread, are there any problems with using that?
None in terms of nutrient value, but maybe read up on Aminopyralid contamination first and explore whether it's an uncontaminated source. Plenty of threads on here about it if you use the search button up there ^^^.

I've had a fair bit of manure recently from a local source I got off freecycle. I used to take it fresh but now only collect well rotted as I can use it straight away. I borrow his trailer and take about 2 tonnes away at a time.

We have agreed a symbiotic relationship where I supply him with a bag of veg for every load, he's happy and so am I. Personally I wouldn't pay for manure, as I'm aware stables have to pay to get it removed. There are plenty of stables around here that will happily give it away, so paying only really comes into play if they deliver it for you.

As for contaminants well its an organic farm it comes from so I trust the source.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.
