I've found that flat-bottomed guttering is better than the 'U'-shaped stuff as the peas slide into a flat-bottomed trench that I make with a draw hoe much easier.

However i did find the transfering into the ground really hard. How do you slide the peas out?Do you slide a little out at a time.
Perhaps i transfered too early as there was not so much root but lots of top growth (bout 3 inches) Did i perhaps transfer too early? What lies behind us,And what lies before us,Are tiny matters compared to what lies Within us ...

I have done peas this way but have yet to put them out. I have put string under mine with some ends dangling, my aim is to tie them to a stake and pull the guttering out from underneath.... should work. I like the idea of suspending guttering to create more space, and yes am a skip-a-holic as well ! it goes so well with gardeining..
