Particularly at this time of year, I find I am suffering badly from 'seed addiction'. All the different catalogues arrive, I read them, and decide I will only order what I actually NEED and ignore the wonderful claims of the novel varieties. But I always end up ordering far too many different things that will never prove to be of use.
I have had bad experiences in the past with seeds that don't germinate, and many things which never live up to the claims made for them.
Living in France, I get both French and UK catalogues, so the situation can be doubly difficult, and now I have been surfing the Internet for more exotic things from American and Canadian websites, where having found the thing I was looking for, I just 'add on' a couple of other items to make the order worthwhile.
Although we are lucky in having a very big garden, even so I always run out of space to plant out the results, particularly in the greenhouse. Most of the more interesting exotic specimens succumb to the cold in their first winter. Each year I decide, 'never again', and intend to get only what I really need. But every winter, I end up ordering far too many different things.
Am I alone in this? What is the solution?
