i always grow kestrel potatoes because they are so resistant to slugs, but has anybody got any ideas as to other varieties that i could try that are resistant to these pesky creatures?

I grew Sarpo this year and the slugs didn't eat them, but then neither did I - they were rubbish. Thanks for the factsheet Zaz. Hope you find a variety you like Kate&Rob.Granny on the Game in SheffieldComment

Do you grow in potato bags or in the ground? I grow in bags and although I have found slugs in the bags I've never had any potatoes munched? Mine were charlotte all the same.Remember it's just a bad day, not a bad life 😁Comment

if you use slug nematodes at earthing up time, that will sort your slugs out for you. It's a tad pricey but really effectiveComment

thanks for the replies, had a look at that fact sheet, thanks zazan999.
we grow in the ground and had good results with kestrel but will try pentland dell as well next year and maybe give the nematodes a try, but it shounds a bit nasty what happens to them, i'm not really a killer, i'd rather just grow something they don't eat.Comment

Funnily enough my spuds is about the only thing that the slugs round here don't eat so have never needed to worry about them - they're too busy eating all the little brassicas, salad crops etc etc
. However do find nematodes can be quite useful and a very environmentally friendly way of killing them rather than nasty pellets which can be eaten by wildlife - having said that most of the slugs I kill by putting a fork prong through them or stamping on them 
.

Nematodes may be environmentally friendly but as kate&Rob says, they are really horrible to the slugs. The slug pellets are probably kinder to the slugs .Comment

Not convinced about that, have you seen how the slugs "melt" on the pellets - anyway, it's war with things that eat my veggies

Nematodes are natural enimies to the slugs so have no problem with them,ever watch 2 blackbirds eating 1 slug they just plull in 2 half each..come on in take a seat time for teaComment
