I recently started going to Buy Vegetable Seeds - Free P&P. The packets are cheap, around 70 - 90p for most, around £1 - £1.20 for organic, plus the P&P is free on all orders and if you ask them they will also give you a 10% discount for allotment holders. Oh yeah, and they email you a tailored growing plan for the seeds you've just bought (when to sow/plant out/harvest), which is kinda handy, if you're still a relative newbie at this GYO business. :-) The site also has good general info, eg companion planting. The only downside is their range isn't huge in some areas; they only seem to have outdoor cucs, for example, no indoor all-females.

DT Brown for me as their service is excellent, generally next day, you get free P&P, free plant labels and free trial seeds.
      Built for comfort, not speed!

Nothing wrong with the above. i.e netto wilkinsons aldi ect. i get a lot from kings only because we get a good deal, half price with are allotment code done through are secretary .You can use this code for vegatableseeds.net AD486 you get 10% off there prices which are very resonable, not silly 500 seeds in a packet that you can not use.

I find that problem with a lot of seed suppliers, how long will it take the average person to use 1750 little gem lettuce seeds? Or 1000 turnip seeds. It's good that I wont have to buy them again for a while but in reality I couldn't use these seeds in 10 years. On the upside, it does leave plenty to swap/give away

if you sow lettuce in seed trays all year round, for sarnies (instead of buying bagged salads) it's surprising how quickly you use up lettuce seeds

Though using up all the turnip seed would be a real challenge, I agree LOL

Well, use the turnip leaves in salads when they're small?

I have always used marshalls as my dad does but am willing to start trying cheaper sources if they work just as well. It would be interesting to do a trial of the same veg(ie, 'make') from 5 different companies.?Who is up for it?

We buy from the Kings catalogue, via our allotment society. Excellent prices as a result. I also frequently end up buying the odd thing from Seeds of Italy, courgettes and lettuce mainly.

I like Real Seeds too and of course the goodies that come with the Heritage Seed Library Membership.

Quite like Kings too but only when I'm in Reighton Nurseries having a nose around - is that still open BTW as I didn't get up there this year.

Who can resist the old 50p bin in Wyevale either .... it's got to be done hasn't it.

So long and thanks for all the fish.........

I use use ebay, premier seeds are great, but also use to buy allotment collections. You can pick up a complete allotment collection with a range of seeds for under a tenner. (superseeds7 is good) I like t and M when they have offers on, but have avoided buying cheap seeds from supermarkets as I think the quality is rubbish. (I once bought some from poundland but they were all moudly. ) however, I see a lot of you have bought from aldi etc, so maybe I should try them again. I am a bit addicted to buying seeds and have far too many, but (confession time) I find it theraputic to look through my seed box during the dark evenings and plan.... (family think I need help!)
