I Googled it but got nothing - but it's a great name.
Since two days ago I'm seeing a couple of tiny shoots each of Gardener's Delight and Brandywine tomatoes. My hopes are not always realized but I always hope (Ovid)

I'm willing to be convinced that early sowing of tomatoes is worth while, but in my experience, the later sowings often do better and take over from the earliest ones in strength and vigour.
What I now do is to 'cheat' and buy a nice bushy plant in early March from our local market (around 50 centimes or less) and then take sideshoot cuttings from it to make lots of new plants.
The original plant gives me loads of early fruit while the plants from the cuttings do just as well as my early home grown seeds, but without all those inputs of extra light and heat.

Did you read the first post?

This is the early sowing and growing thread for all things Tomato
As traditional on the Vine, we are only sowing a few seeds to get us going, as most people don't have the space for 80 plants all being grown indoors through the spring.
..................
*naysayers saying they will wait to sow is great, but start your own thread please - this is for those who want to get a few plants started off early. Thank you.Last edited by Thelma Sanders; 27-01-2013, 01:22 PM.

Here are my little plants as of today Slightly bemused to find a few potato-leaved plants in there, I didn't think I'd sown any But really pleased with how healthy they're lookingAttached Files

How long do they usually take to germinate. I sowed some seeds around a week and a half ago now and only 1 has germinated. I sowed them quite shallow, I think the seeds might be dodgy since I've had plants and seeds from there before and they've all failed (it's a pound shop).
