Mooli?

A mooli, is a mooli. It's like a radish. That's what my mama would say. And she would tell me to grow them too. She has been, actually, for a long time. I will. But a wonky one, if in the flat clay. a slighty weedy one, if in the raised beds. I think it is the oriental sort. But in our house, a mooli is a mooli. Grated, it gets stuffed into chappatis. Julienned, it gets put into a salad.

I grow mooli every year. You sow it late so that it mature Autumn/winter. Last years crop was rubbish but I'll still keep growing it every year.

It tastes very mild, like a snowball turnip and can grow HUGE. I've had some over a foot long and the diameter of a pint glass but still with that mild taste.

PS Its nice grated and eaten raw in salads.

Seems like everyone has different opinions as to what mooli is, I have some seeds winging their way to me courtesy of a very kind grape. I'll grow it this year and report how I get on, otherwise I'll end up in the 'unresolved threads' thread and we can't have that

Well I've sent her loads of other seeds too (peas, beans, okra, toms etc) and they should be with her within a couple of days, so you shouldn't have long to wait

I'll try and hang on, all of my seeds are packed and ready to go but I've got more on the way in the next few days. I think I'll wait until yours and Nellie's arrive to the lovely VC , then I'll send my seeds in. As VC says, I can always do another swap after that

Really Ive always been told its the cats mother who has a name??? I.e. 'who's that the cats mother?' Maybe the saying is different in Wales?
