Didn't know you could buy them. His was made from scraps of wood in true allotment style, but beautifully crafted. Thanks for the link.

Baling twine. You can do lots with it, fence around the new veg garden. Tie up your grapevines, your tomato plants, you trousers............

I think the only other one I remember was buying ham and eggs in Denmark which involved reading letters aloud:

                Buyer: F U N E M?
                Seller: S V F M
                Buyer: F U N E X?
                Seller: S V F X

To get the full effect, read the letters out loud. Can't remember anymore - and I'm risking getting into trouble hijacking the thread!

I wouldn't be so confident. I can saw relatively straight but my joining skills are somewhat lacking!

I was thinking the same of my skills too... imagining just how many bits of dowel I would split!

Then I started wondering if I could just drill holes for the dowels and glue them in place! Sounds a bit more within my capabilities!

This was on my mind when I woke this morning I'm sure I've seen something that could be used for this. I "saw" a flexible piece of rubber tube, that had nobbly bits down one side and could be unrolled over a seed tray to create the holes - and it was orangey brown It only did one row at a time so that you could adjust the spacing between the rows.
If anyone knows what it is, please tell me
Thinking it through, if there very rows of nobbles along the tube, at different spacings and with different sizes, it would be one suitable for all sorts of seeds.
                              I claim the Patent

The studs on a rolling dibber would have to be so small so as not to pull the soil up when rolled over. Maybe modify a rolling pin, drill small holes, glue small dowel pegs into the holes............I want a share VC............
