Asparagus - moving it

Can anyone advise me on whether or not asparagus can be moved. My Mum's garden has several 5 - 8 yrs old crowns but the house is to be sold and I wondered if I could dig up some of the crowns and put them in my garden. If it is possible I would be very grateful for a step by step 'how to'.

Yep- I've moved it with success- but you do need to take a wide rootball so it recovers quicker.
They have a very large root system - so the more the merrier!
