  • Liquid plant feed jug

Saw this in a gardening catalogue £11.99 Envir*feed Jug Envirofeed
I'm sure that Blue Peter could dream up something to do the same job for nowt!
How about a plastic bottle with holes in the side, stood inside a watering can. Stuff the bottle with greens and put into watering can. Give the bottle a shake a couple of times a day. What am I missing?

    What a rip-off.

Just get an empty plastic milk bottle, fill with the leaves of your choice and add water. Shake every day and when ready pour the liquid off.

Exactly Rusty. I've read the instructions and benefits of using it several times and the only difference seems to be the "pump action" introducing oxygen into the liquid. And a pretty jug!!

I saw that too. Milk bottle containers with comfrey, nettles or seaweed for me. My green waste gets tipped into my big composter. I suppose if you eat three sprouts a month and a few beans or peas, then a pretty jug with your odd scraps in seems ideal. Strikes me as a good present for somebody you don't like much

When these catalogues appear, I rarely say - "Ooh I'd like one of those!". More "How can I make that for nothing!" Or, "Why on earth would anyone want something that does that".

Ah, but don't forget they make these things for people who have a 'lifestyle' and if you have a 'lifestyle' you need to have all the accessories.

Personally I'd rather just have a life.

It looks like something a none gardener would buy a gardener as a prezzie.

Crikey. I have a 120 litre water butt that gets filled with comfrey leaves and allowed to 'brew' for at least a month. It stinks like nothing else. But is great for the vegetables, and cost me a grand total of £zero, when I spotted it in a skip down the local dump.

So we've all declared it a waste of space and saved £11.99 tonight

And if we've all saved £11.99 then could we then spend that on seeds?

                        NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Old-skool way of doing it would be to stuff the greenery, or manure, or sheep-droppings into a pair of tights, tie a knot in the top and then dangle it into a water butt. Practically free if you or a relative wears tights

I really only need some seed potatoes which I'll be buying on 17th Feb at the Hulme Garden Centre potato day event

I probably didn't really need the seeds I have bought this last weekend ... but ... vouchers are vouchers!
