flowers on chilli plant?

Like I said, warmth is the trigger: south facing isn't paramount, warmth is.


5" pots are fine, my chillies are all in those.

I now have several very small chilli plants starting to produce flowers!

I dont get it, they are nice and green and healthy looking, and in fresh compost.

Will the plants continue to grow ok, when I nip the flowers off? Or does growing stop altogether?

you're just nipping flowers off. It's like picking chillies off, or picking any fruit off any plant ... it doesn't stunt the plant at all, in fact it makes it produce even more

ok gotcha. I understand it will make the plants produce more fruit.

But I need the plant to grow more foliage and branches, at this stage.

As they are only a few inches tall!

In order for a plant to reproduce it needs to set fruit (as programmed) nipping off the flowers will make it produce more fruit in doing that its automatic response will be to throw out new fresh foilage too in fact some growers nip the top off quite early to get bush growth instead of height
