Reusing compost that had spuds with blight?

Hello All

I have three large tubs that I grew spuds in last year that ended up with blight. I was thinking of spreading the compost in my greenhouse but will it be safe to plants toms in or is it too much of a risk? Cant bear the thought of loosing greenhouse toms to blight!!

Apparently blight only survives on living tissue, so it should be safe. Don't think I would risk it though.

I wouldn't risk it on toms, are they not the same family as tatties?

i put carrots in my old tatty tubs then,when i am putting the contents of the compost bin under (3ft) the veg patch,that lot goes on the bottom,we have had no problems so far,thats 12years where we are now.i do leave it piled onto boards in the depth of winter(christmas onwards) to let it get a freeze,and check it for slugs eggs or the like,before putting it below...

I always get blight on the outdoor tomatoes, I never get it on the spuds

I am very naughty about not digging up all volunteer potatoes (I leave them in the ground), and I also put blighted tomato foliage in the compost bins, along with spud peelings. I use that compost on all my veg beds, including the spuds.

I have never had blight on my spuds
