Slug Resistant Compost?

Just another one of my daft thoughts. If you composted these, would it repell slugs or would it lose its repellant properties.

You could be onto something there, BM - then again.............
I have a load of montbretia (crocosmia) that I am constantly pulling out. Maybe shredding the leaves and laying them around slug-vulnerable plants might work?

I've got a new and cunning plan for your retirement BM
Package individual montbretia corms as "Grow your own slug deterrents". They'll be snapped up and by the time that the plant has grown and generated enough offshoots to be usable, you'll be off playing with the gorillas

I know we jest about such things but I believe that the person/s who can develop a slug resistant compost will deserve a knighthood............You can't very well add pellets, beer & copper tape to compost for sale so what can you add?............Some scientific brain will have the answer, I'm sure.

I have some bad news for you BigM. Next month's GYO Magazine (May) is:
"On the Slime Trail. Wave goodbye to slugs forever with our proven, scientific advice that really does work".
Will we be able to sue them if it doesn't? And will we be able to afford the necessary product?

I love Montbretia by the way. Here in the north it isn't considered a nuisance. I love Lucifer, tall and vibrant. Gorgeous and lovely when the buds are all closed and regimental.

I like Lucifer too but those piddly little Montbretia spread like wildfire here. When we moved here there were lots in the garden so I pulled up as many as I could and threw them over the back fence. 20 Years later we rented an extra bit of land and all the pesky Montbretia were there waiting for me. So I pulled them up again and threw them over the new back fence. 10 years later I bought the rented bit and the land behind it and, yes, the Montbretia were lying in wait for me again. They are everywhere now and nothing seems to eat them. If I could find a use for them I would be so happy

slug repellent compost like was suggested at the start of the thread thread .. cant remember by who because im a newby lol.
