it would be handy for seedlings,BUT,as the plants grow, and leaves sweep the ground, not to speak of the open soil after planting out, they will get them,i wonder if a potion would work, like a tea made with any of those plants, then watered on and around the plants in the open soil,or lay some around the pleant,or even grow some amongst the brassicas,

If I remember (and that's a big IF) I'm going to cut the montbretia leaves off and lay them around my squashes - but you may have to remind me that I said this

You might need to chop them up a bit incase its the montbretia juice they don't like. I have my own distinctly nasty method of dealing with slugs and snails..... but i'm a murderer!

Did you ever do this?...............cos I've just chopped a load up & put it round the beds. I've also started a Montbretia Tea Potion so will see how it goes. I don't think the tea will deter slugs but may make a feed.

I have been kind of thinking the other way around I am wondering if you scatter stuff you would normally compost around you plants whether the slugs would eat that and hence leave your plants alone?

I am not sure about this though because you might also build a super slug army, but it is something I
                    am considering.
