I would at least wait until you are forecast a wee spell without frost. The idea is to get them going and keep them going. A cold spell could well give them a check which could stunt them.
Having said that, 4 weeks or so from now, I'll be setting mine out and our season is normally 4 weeks or so behind yours in the midlands.

I have some sets in seed trays getting nice roots on,at present they are inside the green house,if find this way a lot better, not only are they getting an earlier start, you know exactly where they are for weeding, also firmer in the ground, sigpicAnother nutter ,wife, mother, nan and nanan, love my growing places, seed collection and sharing, also one of these

I am in the Midlands and have just popped my onions into modules today (synodic), shallots have also gone in to my allotment soil today, but I am free draining and somewhat sandy, which gives me a different soil to yours. Maybe let soil dry out and pop onions into compost modules? Shallots hold off?Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better...Albert Einstein

My shallots have been in modules in a cold greenhouse for a couple of weeks now but I tend to plant my onions direct in about 3 weeks time, I don't find they do much before then.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
