Winter Onions Looking Poor!

Something's been eating my onions that overwintered, too! At first I thought it was my cat digging them up, then I heard foxes eat bulbs? Whatever it is, a poly tunnel and loads of upturned pots around all sides to try and stop digging means my white onions are doing ok now after having the tops crushed, bent and eaten and being dug up a few times! The red onions... well, I just replanted them and threatened my cat again so we'll see either she stops digging them up or chases the fox away! They're 100% growing though as they had some good roots on them even after she dug them up go onions!

I'm assuming mine are gone, I can see no sign of them whatsoever. There is a fox that lives on our allotment site though, so maybe he's had them. Or maybe birds or mice pulled them out straight after I put them in? Hey-ho, I'll just get some more sets and try again. TBH, onions aren't high on my list of things to grow, as they're fairly cheap to buy, and by the time you've cooked them with other stuff, you probably wouldn't get that 'homegrown taste' satisfaction? I just like the idea of pulling these fat onions out of the ground.He-Pep!

Turns out they hadn't been eaten at all, they were just sulking! All of them have suddenly broken the surface in the last week and are on their way... was there really any point over-wintering though? Don't think i'll bother again, unless they do better or taste better than the sets i've just put in.He-Pep!

My o/w onions are very poor indeed - jus a few straggly leaves here and there, and most of my garlic hasn't even started to show at all as yet, apart from a single supermarket-bought bulb which is already about 8 inches high!
Unless there is a marked turnaround I know where next year's garlic is going to come from
(and it was miles cheaper too)

Must say that my home garden overwintered onions look good, 6-8" of growth and healthy but the ones at the lotty are barely 3-4", the garlic however at the lotty is looking very nice 8-10" of growth and the bulbs have visibly grown in the last 2 weeks.
