If it is Basil - the next question is - which of the 60+ varieties is it?

More than likely Sweet Genovese. People don't give away more expensive rarer seeds.

They look a bit like some sort of Allium seed to me. They are very simliar to my home saved wild garlic seeds from last year.

OOOH! I can think of a good game involving swapping mystery seeds with other grapes and planting surprises! Or I am just a bit bored as the rest of my family are out?! Well, I still think it sounds like fun

I'm an official nutter - an official 'cropper' of a nutter! I am sooooo pleased to be a cropper! Hurrah!

I would say Basil as well, just not sure on the variety.

Yeah, you'll all really like my "Vietnamese Coriander" !

Was that the bush in the front garden - or was that someone else's mystery seed?
